BBLs

Brazilian Butt lift, is it on the rise or is it fading? Some think it’s the latter, regardless of what the opinions are. The Brazilian Butt Lift procedure is the answer to many women desiring the “ Perfect”hourglass shape.

Procedure

A BBL procedure is essentially a fat transfer or liposuction procedure, where fat is taken from the stomach or other parts of the body( The most common area is the stomach hence the liposuction part) and injected into the buttocks to give it a voluminous fuller shape. While this procedure is an easy way to achieve the desired figure. It is also one of the most dangerous procedure to perform hence why some of the top surgeons in the country are opting out of this procedure.

Now this write up is not to be for or against BBL. Regardless of any personal opinions on this matter wether good or bad, the girlies will still fly to Miami, Turkey or Dominican Republic to get their desired body.

The purpose of this write up is to inform of the healing process that needs to take place after the surgery, if this process is not gone through, complications or permanent side effects can occur.

Recovery

When going in for surgery of any kind, it is important to understand that the healing and recovery process are key factors in determining the overall success of the surgery. When my uncle had his cataract surgery he said, surgery procedure is only 10% of the result, 90% of it is the healing and recovery process and he is correct. Focusing on the different aspects of the healing and recovery process  such as physical therapy( I prefer a good session of Hot Yoga), hydrotherapy, massages, rest can maximize the results of any surgery and a BBL is no exception. Which brings me to the topic of Manual Lymphatic Drainage Massage or a BBL Massage.

MLDM is a very light pressure massage that drains excess fluids and toxins from the body, which in turns improve the skin tone and reduces swelling that is associated with surgery. After a BBL Procedure it is important to begin MLDM at least a week to two weeks post op.

Some of my clients I see for 60 minutes these are clients that got “The whole works” as I like to call it ( meaning lipo on the stomach, back arms thighs sometimes face)

Some i see for 30 minutes and these are the the clients that got “The Regular” (Lipo on the stomach  and back)

MLDM is very and I mean VERY!! Important in the success of a BBL. Not going through this process or starting late, can slow down the healing process or cause permanent scarring.

I usually offer two different packages of lymphatic massages or The Omi package at La LUX Spa because the massages need to be frequent at least twice a week or more.

Now when researching different spas to go to for your post op care( Because you are not able to get to the best spa in the world La LUX Spa) please ensure that your therapist or the professional that will be performing your massages is Licensed and knowledgeable in massage & body work and actually graduated from an accredited Massage and Bodywork School.

I have been noticing the rise in “Body contour Beauty Bars” that market lymphatic drainage massages for BBL post op care and other beauty treatments such as teeth whitening or veneers, these individuals running or offering such services have never driven past a dentistry or massage school not to talk of stepping foot in one. Their certificates or credentials are usually from the University of Instagram Master Class (UIMC).

Some not all of these Body Contour Beauty Bars are just as dangerous as the back alley butt injections that are being administered by non medical, un licensed person(s)

So please do your research and make sure they are licensed and knowledgeable in Massage and Body Work.

Maintenance

Wood Therapy Also known as Maderoterapia is a method of using wooden tools to help contour the body. The therapist uses different shaped tools to help massage and stretch the muscles. This therapy is beneficial for body contouring because it helps to break down fatty tissues, improve circulation, and sculpt the body. Wood work is a safer alternative to a BBL, and if done on a consistent basis can provide more effective and long lasting results than a BBL. I usually recommend woodwork to my clients as a way to maintain their results.. now keep in mind, this procedure can be uncomfortable at times, so I usually ask my clients to come back at least  six months to a year after all sessions of MLDM are done.

Maderoterapia should be considered as part of your maintenance for the BBL surgery, because what the surgeons do not tell their patients is that there’s a 33% chance for fat to return to the areas that have received lipo and also as the years go by there is a loss of volume in the buttocks.. so adding Maderoterapia along side other exercises are great ways to maintain the “perfect” figure.

Despite some people thinking the BBL is on a decline, this surgical procedure remains a popular choice for women wanting to improve their appearance. If you are considering having a BBL done, make sure to do your research, find a qualified surgeon who can help you achieve the look you desire and most importantly take your post op care seriously and choose La LUX Spa as your go to post-op spa.
